Does anyone mind if I enable the cia.vc stats reporting for the pure- data SVN? It's a built-in feature in SourceForge, just a checkbox, basically, in the Admin->Subversion section.

I think it makes sense to post commit comments to #dataflow, but we have to make sure no one minds.

Since there were no objections, I added the ciabot_svn.py script as an SVN hook. Here's the cia.vc project site:

How about commit messages to #dataflow?

Yo, I've tried posting commit messages to a chat room before for another project, and we just found it annoying - it also discourages multiple commits since one is now considering how many "chat" lines are going to be posted with every commit (I already have enough guilt knowing my commits are clogging people's inboxes : ) ).
Sure, it fills in some space when there is not conversation, but when there is actual conversation it gets in the way very fast!
Just my experience Best Luke

Back when I was on the pd-cvs mailing-list, I'd have said that it's a good idea. I don't know how much pd-cvs has changed since. Well, of course it should be made in a way that won't flood the channel (e.g. sending one message per file changed would be a very bad idea, especially in project made of many many many small files).

I don't know the format, I am guessing that it is easy enough to turn on and off, so we could just try it.
About flooding the room with messages, there aren't that many commits, a few a day is a lot for this project, so I don't think that's a big concern.
