So now that there are a plethora of externals that need their class_sethelpsymbol() changed to be 0.37 compatible, I am wondering whether we could just remove it completely. In the process of looking into this, I noticed that none of the GGEE objects have a class_sethelpsymbol().
So what, if any, are the downsides of just removing class_sethelpsymbol()? It seems to me that it would save us a lot of regexing and #ifdef'ing.

I _think_ it's now compatible with the "old" way (as a last resort, objects look for a file of their own name without "help-" or "-help"). But yes, the original intent of class_sethelpsymbol() was so that objects could group themselves into one help window; there should be no other reason to call it at all!
