Initial Comment: pd crashes the whole system and can't even be killed by the watchdog (i'm using -rt) when more than 20 readsf~s (i'm not sure if it is always exactly 20) are created one by one in an empty patch. the whole computer becomes unresponsive to anything and the hard drive thrashes constantly. computer can only be restarted with power button. this is even before any messages have been sent to the readsf~s or dsp has been turned on.
i'm using 0.38 test 10 on planetCCRMA fedora core 1 with jack.

I was not able to reproduce this on Mac OS X 10.4.11/Intel using Pd-0.40.3-extended-20080427. Is this still a problem anywhere?
I attached my test patch. File Added: manyreadsf.pd
