OK, recomiled with a 64-bit Wish... still runs OK in Wine, hoping it doesn't break anything out in the wild :)

Yes, that's what I was saying. If previous versions of the windows 64 bit build worked fine with a 64 bit pdfontloader, then it's because Pd game with a 64 bit tk, so it follows that is what's needed in this case.
