I am thinking of changing my license to GPLv3. The only forseeable problem would be if people have taken out the "or (at your option) any later version" from the standard GPLv2 text, thereby tying the code to only the GPLv2.
Does anyone know of any code in the pure-data or pd-gem CVS that is not compatible with the GPLv3?
AFAIK, GPLv2 and GPLv3 are compatible for putting components together, as you can also combine BSD and LGPL and GPL code together in the same program.
What you can't do, is take a GPLv=2 component and enforce GPLv3 rules on it, which is something that amounts to switching that component to a GPLv3 license; you can only do that to a GPLv>=2 or GPLv=3 or GPLv>=3 component.
