Smart way to squeeze fink-the-donkey. Have you incorporated the knowledge you've gained by that process into the new wiki page (MaxOSXFink)?
I have tried too, but I don't know whether I have been successful. The binary packages on 10.4 help smooth the process a lot. There aren't 10.5 binaries yet...
