irc dev meeting september 30th
i'm calling this meeting on the occasion of the first anniversary of the pd convention graz. an appropriate topic would be: what has changed in the last year of puredata ?
i'm also calling this meeting because everybody thinks i should be calling the meetings even though i think that my IRC channel is open for anything sufficiently on-topic, and you bet pd is on-topic in the pd channel.
i'm also, also calling this meeting because there are some important issues left to be discussed:
* what would be a good threading model for devel_0_39 ? We need an overall design that takes care of loading soundfiles, callback dsp, GUI updates, etc., in a realtime ("click-free") way, and in a consistent way, that is open for further uses.
* how should we make devel_0_39 work in 64-bit mode?
* can our use of SIMD (SSE+Altivec) be extended to more code in a way that causes further outrageous speed advantages over plain pd ?
* how can we ensure the devel branch gets distributed to end users ?
* how can we make external language support more consistent with each other and more supported at the level of pd itself? (The current languages for writing externals are: C, C++, Python, Ruby, Scheme, Tcl, Java, and possibly untold others.)
* what is needed for PureData to be chosen over Max/MSP in universities ?
So everyone is invited to irc.freenode.net #dataflow on 2005.09.30 at UTC 16.00 for the sixth (?) or maybe seventh (?) of our n-monthly bring-your-own-brain events.
(Everyone also is invited to irc.freenode.net #dataflow all of the time, too. We think we're a funny bunch. Sometimes we might even be productive.)
