It's probably the state of affairs, but try at least making Pd setuid and running it "-rt". To make it setuid, I think you type, sudo chown root [...]/pd sudo chmod 4775 [...]/pd although you might have to install a "root" user for this to work. As soon as I can get to an OSX machine myself I'll look at this...
