Hi,
would there be a straightforward way to adjust the hardware color balance of a webcam through GEM? Do you have experience in getting/setting those attributes with the PS3 eye webcam which has been used in a lot of Pd projects? perhaps installing a new driver with more controls?
I am under Ubuntu 11.10 64bit with a 3.0.0-12 kernel.
I am also trying to develop/improve v4l2 handling in gem and pdp, but I'd like to get some of the community input and wisdom first.
you can adjust each and every ctl available via the v4l2 driver from within Gem. see the [pd properties] subpatch in the help for pix_video.
the ps3eye gives me 10 controls with stock drivers (none of them dealing with color correction, if they are labelled correctly). i haven't tried the patch at [1] for a long time, but i remember having good results "back then" (i mainly needed it the patch for being able to adjust the imagesize/framerate, but it seems that it also allows some color correction)
