i think if you send thomas a detailed bug report this will be fixed within 2 hours ...
Ben and I have talked about it on and off more than once. Its the bug that makes the crash as if Pd exited cleanly.
Could it be that a realtime linux kernel is signalling pd because it blocks (USR2)? Does it crash even when not running realtime?
I am on Mac OS X.
