what about just showing the new value? i think this should also apply to anything that accepts a 'set' message.. a lot of guesswork is involved when backtracing a patch visually, in the current GUI..
Arguments are often used as defaults, so you wouldn't want them to be changed by data coming on the inlet. But yes, perhaps red isn't the best color. How about a nice mauve or teal perhaps... ;)
