i get you. it is very ugly, that if i change configure.ac i have to submit both configure and configure.ac.
however, it seems like it unnecessarily complicates the build-process (due to the various conflicting versions of the autoconf-tools)
although i thought, it' pretty easy to generate the autoconf file, i wrote the bootstrap stript ...
yes, i was always wondering what it is for, since it only does obvious things. but then i am using autoconf more often then other users.
anyway, it might be a waste of resources, to have python installed to build pd, the advantage of scons is the dependency tracking that is advanced compared to the autotools ... if you compile a lot, you will start to like the features ...
i do not doubt that it has its merits.
