[pix_movieDarwin] works for video playback. FYI, [pix_movieDarwin] also doesn't respond to the [mode ( messages.

I don't see pix_movieDarwin mentioned so you have loaded the other (old) version of pix_movie. Try changing to pix_movie to pix_movieDarwin and see if that loads and plays the movies properly.
