Summary: Fixed -nogui behaviour on Windows
Initial Comment:
This patch is against pd from CVS
mar oct 19 17:34:56 CEST 2004
The patch fixes the problems when running pd with -nogui
under windows. It seems that the select() function under
windows can not cope with timeouts when there are no
filedescriptors to select on. This is why putting a
netreceive
in the patch fixed the behaviour.
This patch fixes the problem by calling the "Sleep()"
function
in case there is no filedescriptor to poll.

Summary: s_loader.c: osx external loading
Initial Comment:
...years ago, the NSLINKMODULE_OPTION_PRIVATE flag was
introduced to NSLinkModule() in an effort to prevent pd
from crashing when a library is loaded that has
duplicate symbols to an already loaded library...sure,
it's desirable to not crash, but this flag has the side
effect of artificially partitioning the loaded symbols
such that we can't access one library easily from
another...
...so, this patch removes the PRIVATE flag and adds
another RETURN_ON_ERROR flag, which works as
advertised...I've also added a small bit of code to
spit out some info about what the error was, and in
which file...
...another point to consider is the linker flag
-flat_namespace, and whether it is needed at all
anymore (the default would be -twolevel_namespace)...

Check out externals/build/darwin/makefile. Its been using
-bundle -bundle_loader ../path/to/pd successfully for a
while now.
externals/OSCx is using -bundle_loader.. but has
-flat_namespace, so maybe that should be changed as well.

...after further exploration with linking and loading other
externals, I think we can leave -flat_namespace behind and
just use something like the following:
PREFIX = $(HOME)/pd-0.38-4/
LFLAGS = -bundle -bundle_loader $(PREFIX)/bin/pd
...notice that we don't need to say "-two_level_namespace",
because it is default...without the -bundle_loader bit, you
get all kinds of problems with undefined symbols...

Summary: gui: drag&drop / mousewheel
Initial Comment:
mousewheel to scroll patch window, normal is vertical,
shift-scroll is sideways.. you can still bind to wheel
events inside a widget and override the canvas'..
drag&drop requires tkdnd.sourceforge.net, if you dont
have it installed nothing happens.. drop onto the top
window (with the console) and theyre opened in current
instance, or keep a palette of abstractions to drop on
a canvas:

to ensure that pd.lib exports the
mayer_fft()-functions, we have to import "m_pd.h" in

Summary: exposing verbose() in m_pd.h
Initial Comment:
(i have moved this from RFE to patches)
this patch gives the authors of externals the
possibility to give some user-defined verbosity to
their externals.
"void verbose(int level, const char*fmt, ...);" will
output the formatted string only if the given level is
lower than the user-settable "sys_verbose"-level.
the user can set the verbosity by adding "-verbose" to
the startup flags. each "-verbose" increments the
sys_verbose by 1.

do you mean a list of tooltips as part of t_class instead of
part of t_inlet?
if it's only that, it should very easy to adapt it ...

I'm still unwilling to go adding data fields in objects for
functions that
aren't basic to Pd's run-time... I think it would be more
compact to have a
tooltip field in the class.
