Summary: /bin/pthreadVC.dll missing
Initial Comment:
/bin/pthreadVC.dll is missing. Copying it from any
other pd version solves the problem.

well, since it's a dll, windows for sure. I guess the same
version as in ZÃŒrich, 0.39t3. Which I can check only on the
command line, because when I go to help-about the version
isn't there, just the string "PD_VERSION"

Summary: openpanel crash
Initial Comment:
when openpanel is clicked and the selection window
comes up, pd crashes. this doesn't happen all the time,
but will happen for sure if f.e. something with
openpanel has been done before.

I can't reproduce this on Pd-0.39.2-extended-test7. Is there any more
info?

this has been happening a lot in my computer lately. I guess
there's a conflict between openpanel and window's
commentaries to files.
my mouse has automatic selection (follows the pointer, I
only have to click once to open a file). when I use
openpanel after the 1st time, if I'm not fast selecting a
file it *will almost for sure* crash pd.
no example patch necessary, just any patch with openpanel.
apparently the chances increase if a patch with GOPs was
opened (it's only a hunch).

This is the only information I can give, because the
behaviour is erratic, and I can't establish a pattern. the
only thing I know for sure is that it doesn't happen on the
first time.
example patch isn't necessary, just banging any openpanel -
it's a general behaviour, not specific to any singular
patch.

Summary: $@ and $# expansion (argc, argv)
Initial Comment:
the attached patch extends the $-expansion mechanism:
$# expands to the number of arguments; usable both as
A_DOLLAR (just "$#") and A_DOLLSYM ("$#-bla")
$@ expands to the entire list of arguments (e.g. [$@
$@( will expand [1 2 3( to [1 2 3 1 2 3(); this is only
usable as A_DOLLAR; i.e. [symbol $@-a( will always
expand to "$@-a"
why:
well, its a way to deal with dynamic length lists that
is still missing in pd (though 1st steps have been made
with [list])
caveats:
what is still missing is an expansion for the selector
of messages and objects (the selector of an object
would be the object's instantation name); would $$ be a
good name for this? (since $0 is already taken)

Yes! This is great!
As for the selector, $0 is not taken in message space, so I
think it makes sense there. Since message expansion
variables are already different than object arguments, I
think that won't be too confusing. Plus the $ variable
syntax comes from shell scripting, where $0 is basically the
selector of the message that is the command line arguments.

Summary: Hash signs in GUI labels get replaced by dollar signs
Initial Comment:
Hash signs ("#") in the label of a GUI object are replaced by a dollar sign ("$"). That is, giving a slider a label like "silder#" will result in a label "slider$" both in the GUI as in the saved patch file.
This is slightly different for float atoms: Here the patch file correctly saves the hash, but still displays a dollar in the patch.

Summary: Patch to OSCx to support multicast
Initial Comment:
Hello,
I needed to try some multicast stuff with Pd, but found that the OSCx
externals didn't support it, so I made some small changes. Just
thought I'd send it along in case it is useful to someone else.
[sendOSC] can now take an optional TTL argument in its "connect"
message. This is "Time To Live" which says how many jumps the UDP
packet is allowed to make before dying out. Without setting this,
multicast only works on the local LAN.
[dumpOSC] can now take an optional "Group" argument _before_ the port
number. (I put it before for consistancy with sendOSC.) For example:
[dumpOSC 224.0.1.1 7879]
When this argument is provided, it will join the given multicast
group. (using setsockopt)
Tested so far on Linux (Ubuntu Dapper) and OS X 10.4.8 ppc.
I also modified configure.ac a little to make it work properly with
Pd-0.40-2.app on OS X.

Worked for me on Mac OS X 10.4.8
committed without the changes to configure.ac since those broke the
Pd-extened build stuff.

Summary: Abstractions don't loadbang when created via [; pd-mycanvas

As now discussed on pd-list, this is not seen as a bug so I'm closing this
report.
Not loadbanging dynamically created abstractions is a design decision.
It is intentional.
The main reason for it is that abstractions may generate output at
their outlets as a result of a loadbang inside. Normally abstractions
do the loadbang *before* the parent patch does its own loadbangs. So a
loadbang in an abstraction may change the parent's patch behaviour,
through an outlet or through a sender/receiver.
However with dynamically created abstraction instances, the time, when
the outlet is connected to something will be after the abstraction was
created dynamically so it's loadbang-output would be sent into
nirvana, whereas when loading from a file or when recreating a
previously created abstraction manually, the connections are already
there, when the loadbang inside the abstraction fires.
To avoid ambiguities it was decided, that loadbangs in dynamically
created abstractions need to be activated manually e.g. with the
"loadbang" message to the parent (sub)patch.
At least that's how I understand it.
