Let's keep this on the list. I'm not a pdp or graphics dev, so I won't be
able to help as the questions get deeper, but I'm happy to help you dig. It
would be good to have more work on PDP, its a solid library.
I do remember vaguely Tom Schouten talking about this, did you try to search
the archives of the pd lists? Or maybe try emailing Tom directly.
You could also look at Gem and gridflow to see how they handle it.

Summary: [bugfix]: non-2^n-BS bug
Initial Comment:
I'm really not a 'spammer'! ...nor a hypochondriac...
I've tested several versions of pd (0.42.5 - 0.43.3 (ext/van)). None of them is working with non-2^n-BSes!
On the mailing-list ( http://www.mail-archive.com/pd-dev@iem.at/msg11344.html ), Claude Heiland-Allen states that it is already implemented..
(Thanks Claude) But I can't confirm that. I've tried the patch he posted there, - without success: The blocksize is always rounded to the next bigger power of 2, it seems!
I don't know what he's on, but I'm on windows. Maybe that makes the difference..
(Is this a hardware- or Os-dependent feature..??)
Please take a look at the attached pd-patch. It's my attempt to work out the problem..
If someone could give me a resonable answer, I promise I'll never come back again ;) ...for this issue...
PS: It feels a little annoying if one does not get a real response or not a response at all! (Eg. look at the feature requests. The last one on the 1st page is like 2 years old, so you can't say there are too many to respond to each one..).
This especially is true if the response is longer than the acual answer like "Yes", "No" or "I don't know". That would have been a big help for me already. Although it's not making the bug disappear automatically...
Anything like if it is a useful/good idea is something I'd like to know, when posting something, for exapmle..
But no, I won't be scared away so easily..

indeed i can confirm the bug (as discussed on the mailinglist).
i'll attach a (simplistic?) fix that appears to make it work with current
git (and this time i tried hard to avoid introducing trailing whitespaces)

I didn't know about that. I find the lists to be a little confusing.. There
are so many, with all the archives. And sometimes some posts (from sf) only

Anyways, did you (or someone else) take a look at the file??
Oh and just let me take this chance to thank you very very much for this
brilliant piece of software. This is far more than programming. If it

Since some time Ive been developing a videomixer with PureData (
http://www.ewocprojects.be) and one of the less pressing problems is the
mouse pointer behaviour when using pdp output windows. At the moment the
pointer disappears when over any of these windows, and since my mixer uses
a multiple of windows onscreen, this makes the program more difficult to
control, cause one can easily "lose" the mouse pointer...
Is there anyone with knowledge of pdp source who knows how to fix this
problem, Id really appreciate also any info as to why, technically, the
pointer disappears, because then maybe I can fix this myself?

Summary: Ability to set application-wide I/O mappings
Initial Comment:
The input / output channel numbers of adc~ and dac~ currently map directly to audio device channel numbers. It would be useful if there was an application-wide way to create a mapping between adc/dac channel numbers and audio device channel numbers.
In Max, this is achieved via a per-channel mapping (see attached screenshot). However, a simpler approach would be to allow a "DAC channel offset" and "ADC channel offset" to be specified in the Pd audio preferences dialog.
With a DAC channel offset of 0, then dac~ channel 1 would be mapped to audio device output channel 1. With a DAC channel offset of 8, then dac~ channel 1 would be mapped to audio device output channel 9.

Summary: wavinfo wrong output - fmt block size related
Initial Comment:
While using wavinfo on wav files (converted with ffmpeg), I noticed the sample count is wrong (real large).
The problem comes from the fact that ffmpeg always uses a 18 bytes block size for the fmt section, while wavinfo seems to assume it's always 16 bytes.
The standard says if type is PCM then size should be 16, but can be 18 for other formats.
wavinfo should either refuse to read the malformed wav file or use the actual fmt block size, not return nonsense. This involves splitting the wave_t structure in two or maybe using an union.
Attached is a sample wav file.
Note that readsf~ is able to read the file.
Thank you

Not for audio connected to a dac~, but for offline stuff it works (some
buggy objects might not cooperate).
> You know, I've read about that, and now I wonder if the info or the implementation is bugged..
Works for me following the somewhat-cryptic guidance in [switch~]'s
help, see attached. Note that dsp must be on globally, but switched off
for the particular canvas, for this to make sense. Also bang->switch~
seems to compute a dsp block immediately, so remember to use trigger
when applicable to initialise your signal objects in that patch.
Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to have a small example somewhat along these
lines in the help patch.

Summary: split out window placement into proc so plugins can override
Initial Comment:
This makes it easy for people to customize these calculations based on their Window Manager, desires, etc. Unfortuantely, Tk/X11 makes it hard because it doesn't give you the measurements of the window chrome, only the window contents. more info here:

Summary: netreceive's FUDI parser for UDP broken(?)
Initial Comment:
when i send a message "a b; c d;" via netcat to a [netreceive] object (in TCP/IP-mode), it will emit two messages "a b" and "c d"
however, when i send the same message in UDP-mode, i will only get the "a b" message (the 2nd message "c d" is silently dropped).
furthermore, if i send a message "A B" (without the trailing semicolon) in TCP/IP-mode, nothing will be output (until i decide to send a semicolon, at which point the entrire message is output);
however if i send the same message (without the trailing semicolon) in UDP-mode, the full message is output (i guess the latter is related to the packet-nature of UDP, but still it strikes me as asymmetric)
