** [bugs:#1163] help for udpsend~ claims 16bit format is default, but its float**
**Status:** open

The help patch for [sendudp~] claims that the default sample format is 16bit, but it appears to be floating point.
Setting up a stream between two computers I was watching the network traffic (in OSX Activity monitor) and the traffic was consistent with 4 bytes * 44100 samples per second. Sending the [format 16bit( message to [sendudp~] cut the traffic substantially, which supports that it was sending floats by default.

By listing (supposedly) all bugs sorted down by date or ID, the last appears to date back to march 2013, which seems highly unlikely.
So this is a test to see whether this bug report will appear.
I'm almost sure I myself reported some bug more recently than that.

** [bugs:#1161] [value] issues error if a message is sent to a target with the same name**

This will reproduce the issue:
[v xxx]
[67(
|
[s xxx]
Click on the message box.
Expected result: nothing (or is it supposed to set the value? If so, it's not documented).
Observed result:
Error on the console:
value: no method for 'float'
Additionally, the error is not trackable, i.e. cannot be found by "Find last error", which is especially hateful.
Untrackable errors should be erradicated from Pd completely.

Sorry I can't provide the patch to reproduce this. The patch is too big and it's not mine, and I can't isolate the part that reproduces the bug... because of the bug itself.
The issue is that I'm getting somewhere this error:
value: no method for 'list'
AND when I do Find -> Find last error it says:
... sorry, I couldn't find the source of that error.
An untrackable error is always a bug. Source of an error MUST always be trackable. Assuming that the patch is actually sending a list message to an object that is not capable of handling a list (i.e. there is an error in the patch), the fact that it is not tracked is a bug.
ALL places in Pd's code where error messages are generated without properly tracking them so that they can be found in Find -> Find Last error, should be fixed.
This is a PLAGUE in Pd.
Furthermore, in this case, the error message is also nonsensical on its own.
It is supposed to mean that there is a "value" object that is receiving a list in an inlet that can't handle a list (by the way, it is a one-float-item list that is being sent, so it's actually a float). Now, [value] has only an inlet, and it _can_ handle lists and floats, so the message doesn't make sense. Clearly, it is not being issued by a [value] object, but then why does it say "value:" ?
And by the way, it's about time to implement the possibility to find all errors, not only the last one.

** [bugs:#1158] shmem : on free method shared memory segment is remove even if it's still attached**

When closing and reopening a patch using shmem, [shmem] doesn't work until all install have been reallocated in other process.
To reproduce :
1. open twice instance (sender A and receiver B) of shmem-help.pd
2. in A, change values in array1 and then click [me umset array1( then click [memdump array2( in B.
3. array2 should display the value you enter in A's array1
4. close A, then reopen it and reproduce 2. The B's array2 is no more updated.
If you close Pd instead of only closing the patch, and then reopen it, it works.
This is because shmem_free() is not called when closing Pd without closing the patch.
Here is attached a patch that solves the issue.
