Summary: alternative names for [list] objects
Initial Comment:
this patch adds alternative names with space " "
changed to slash "/" for the group of [list]-objects:
[list append] == [list/append]
[list prepend] == [list/prepend]
[list trim] == [list/trim]
[list split] == [list/split]

I think this is a bad idea. If there is going to use the
namespace-style prefix, then the underlying library should
be formatted the same way. I don't think its useful to have
yet another special case for the list objects, which this
would be, especially when it does not add any new
functionality at all.
This could be achieved by compiling the list objects as a
libdir.

Summary: allow env vars in path and loadlib on Win32
Initial Comment:
This very minor change allows "path" and "loadlib"
preferences to use Windows environment variables in the
registry.
A more complete solution is proposed in the feature
tracker "minor changes to support env vars on Windows":

is it time to revisit this? It's a super simple change, and makes things
a lot more flexible for Windows users.

Summary: changing properties doesn't set "modified" status
Initial Comment:
When you change the properties of an object, it does
not set the "dirty" or "modified" flag on the patch.
Therefore, Pd does not prompt to save if that patch is
closed and those changes are lost.
To see this bug in action, make a new patch, and place
a GUI bang object on the canvas (i.e. [bng]), then save
the file. Now, open the properties dialog of that bang
and change the color of it and it OK. When you close
the patch, it does not prompt you to save your changes.

Attached is a patch that fixes this for all canvas-related properties
panels (i.e. NOT the audio/midi/path/startup pref panels). This should
work for adding and deleting cords, and properties panels for: canvas,
arrays, iemguis, and atom boxes.
The only downside is that with the properties panels, there is no checking
whether there has actually be any change. I just sets the dirty flag if
the user clicks on OK or Apply.
File Added: cords_and_properties_set_dirty-0.41.4.patch

Not only changing properties of an object.
Also deleting an existing connection does not set the modified flag!
To see the bug in action:
Make a new patch, create any two objects and connect them in any way (any
inlet of one to any outlet of the other), then save the file.
Now, click on the wire connection and delete it, without moving the
objects.
When you close the patch, it does not prompt you to save your changes.
This is true both for control and signal connections.
At least Windows XP, version 0.40-2
Should I post this as a separate bug?

Summary: [bonk~] reads and writes to / by default
Initial Comment:
When reading and writing files with [bonk~], it
defaults to / if no directory is specified. [qlist]
and [textfile] default to the current directory of the
patch. This seems to me to be the correct behavior.
To see this bug in action, save the attached patch to
/tmp and open it.

however it might be that this my correct behaviour is specific to
linux...
attached is a unified diff against bonk~.c that uses canvas_makefilename()
for writing and canvas_open() for reading; this should behave exactly the
same as qlist/textfile

hmm, on pd-0.40 (linux), bonk~ correctly reads from/writes to the current
directory.
can you confirm whether the bug still exists?

I'm still unwilling to go adding data fields in objects for
functions that
aren't basic to Pd's run-time... I think it would be more
compact to have a
tooltip field in the class.

Summary: patch for native alsa sequencer midi support
Initial Comment:
The patch allows pd to be connected to different
sources and sinks of midi messages through the alsa
sequencer natively.
It lets pd open 1 or more sequencer inputs or outputs.
Alsa midi support is selected at compile time, if alsa
headers are found alsa midi support will be compiled
instead of oss.
All midi events work ok, i think probably raw midi does
not.

reopened!
attached is an improved version of the alsa-sequencer
support, that automatically connects each available device
to/from pd.
(note: currently it only connects if pd opens just 1 port)
this eliminates the need for "external" helpers, like the
[aconnect]-external, aconnect, aconnectgui or qjackctl
furthermore i found and fixed some, namely reverting the
number of in and out devices.

i haven't made all the various APIs switchable (as is with

replaced s_midi_alsa.c with steve's version;
this allows more than 1 MIDI output-port (or device) (read:
more than 16 channels) and fixes [midiout]

i did a little tweaking of this patch and right now it works
on all 8 ports of my midisport8x8, plus sys_putmidibyte is
implemented, so [midiout] actually triggers midi instead of
an error message. it's a bit of a hack job, but it works
great for me (and hopefully you as well).
my modified version of s_midi_alsa.c can be found at
http://finkla.com/steve/s_midi_alsa.c
if anyone with power to update the files here on sourceforge
cares to, please do, but in any case that link should stay
alive for quite a while.

I didn't look closely, but I think to do this right would
require
actually giving a run-time choice between ALSA and OSS MIDI
systems. A big job.

Here is the patch and s_midi_alsa.c file as I use it in the
Debian package currently. It seems that the author of the
patch does not have to time to update it, or probably he
just isn't aware of problems, so take it with a grain of
salt. Also we have to check for the multiple devices problem
steve.long
mentions.

apparently [notein] for channels above 16 works as expected,
17-32 coming from the second device and so on, but [noteout]
only sends to the first device, chans 17-32 send to device 1
just like 1-16, as do 33-48, etc.

Summary: mobile port fixes: Android, iPhone, embedded Linux
Initial Comment:
It is important to have the C files not rely too much on the build system for the macros. This is highlighted with mobile platforms like Android and iPhone since it is necessary to use the Android/iPhone build system rather than Pd's. This patch adds the "ANDROID" macro in the requisite places since Android does not use __linux__. It also adds the esd/EsoundD API for embedded Linux and the template for Apple AudioUnit API, for iPhone. There are currently 3 or 4 implementations for s_audio_audiounit.c, so the current file is only a placeholder.
