Summary: [until -debug n]
Initial Comment:
This would loop like a normal [until] that has received a bang to its left inlet, but at the nth iteration (defined by the user) it stops and outputs a message to the console that says it's reached the nth iteration and might be an infinite loop. As far as I can tell you can't implement a similar safety patch around [until] without interrupting the main object chain. This would be better than inserting a [1000( above the [until] object because:
a) you get feedback to the console when it reaches the last iteration
b) when you're done debugging, you don't have to mess with the wires in the main object chain-- you can just remove the "-debug n" part of [until].
It's also better than making a counter because again, you're not fooling with wires in the main object chain.

I can't reproduce this on WinXP fully updated using Pd-extended

I am guessing it might be an issue with your audio interface or driver.

Summary: Pd patch crashes on load
Initial Comment:
I wrote a simple randomisation patch for loading up sequenced wav files, which worked last week. Now for some reason it crashes Pd when I try to load it!
This is on Windows Vista Business, 32-bit, Pd version 0.41.4-extended (I made sure I installed the latest version and tested with this before reporting the problem).
I have tried running with –noloadbang startup option, and also running as administrator, but no luck. I am using some non-native objects so that may be the issue..
Problematic patch is attached.

Ah, that just rerouted things. I found that changing this line:
#X obj 847 386 s track_num;
to this:
#X msg 847 386 s track_num;
AND ALSO changing the print objects to msg objects, actually fixed the
issue.
I hope this helps. I can attach a working version if need be!

Message:
I have found out that removing the lines:
#X obj 609 338 print filename;
#X obj 881 366 print tracknum;
from the file allow it to load correctly. But these are only print
objects! Why could they be causing a crash? Anyway my initial problem is
over..

Summary: gripd fails to compile on gcc > 4.2.x
Initial Comment:
The autobuild process doesn't even try to build it, or install anything beyond some text files and help patches.
Please see attached patches which allow my gcc-4.3.2 to compile.
1) Array.cpp uses some members of a base class (Collection) without dependent context. "this->" applied liberally.
2) Sequencer_alsa.h defined some members with an extra Sequencer_alsa:: qualifier---unneeded.
3) MidiInPort_{oss,alsa}.h have functions which call upon a friend function which is not defined within the scope of the relevant MidiInPort class. Thus, the function is not within the scope of the class. Just added a declaration in the relevant header file. Alternatively, -ffriend-injection may be passed to gcc. This topic was obscure to me, see link for discussion: http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-help/2007-05/msg00222.html
Solution inferred from here: http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-4.1/changes.html

Ok, I applied these and it compiled on Debian/stable, so I checked them in.
FYI: gripd has no maintainer, and I don't know anything about it. If you
are a user of it, it would be great if you could maintain it.

And one of those makefiles looks in /usr/include/python2.2 for Python.h
Since the build process is "dumb" I just changed this to
/usr/include/python2.6
Python's distutils may be the solution to find the right path
