I just managed to get the sound card working on my openSUSE 11.1
64-bit laptop, so I am planning to go ahead and build pd-extended from
source. Has anyone else here tried this?

Summary: revised pd-msg tutorials
Initial Comment:
* made "scalar", "array", "pop", "relocate", and "key" msgs functional in the patches
* added a warning about the "connect" msg duplicating connections if called multiple times in a row
* edited for spelling, grammar, repositioned some of the windows
Note: I couldn't get the "click" msg to work at all (on winxp), but left it unchanged in the tutorials

Initial Comment:
Hi,
when using [model foo.obj] and no gemwin has been created before, pd exits with segfault.
this also happens on message [open foo.obj(
everything's fine when I create a gemwin, even if i destroy it and then load a patch containing [model foo.obj]
I'm using pd 0.40.3-extended from otherside.servebeer.com intrepid repository.
thanks,
Martin

i created a thread for this some time ago in the mailing list:
http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/2009-03/068425.html
apparently the cause of these errors seems to be radeon graphics driver or
graphics hardware.
the work around:
[create(
[gemwin]
before loading any models is still necessary on this computer with current
versions of extended autobuilds. on another computer (nvidia graphics)
everything's fine.
tested today 2009_04_15 on Pd version 0.41-4extended-20090323

I couldn't reproduce this on Mac OS X 10.5/Intel Pd version
0.41.4-extended-20090413. I am guessing it might have something to do with
that "otherside" build, which is not from the standard build servers. Try
one of the nightly intrepid builds:

my name is August Black. I program externals for puredata. One of
them, that is already in the SVN is readanysf~. Can I have access
again to update those files....or, if someone would rather do it
themselves...that's cool with me.

Summary: file associations for GNOME, KDE, etc.
Initial Comment:
>From an email from Cyrille:
try adding it to the packages
packages/linux_make/Makefile is the place to do it, should be pretty straightforward.
ok.
is it possible to just add thing like this :
# add mime type to .pd files
cp mime_pd-extended.xml /usr/share/mime/packages/pd-extended.xml update-mime-database /usr/share/mime # add icon to this mime type
# works curently only on gnome, is it possible to find a better way to do this?
cp /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/pd.png /usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/mimetypes/gnome-mime-application-pd-extended.png chmod 644 /usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/mimetypes/gnome-mime-application-pd-extended.png gtk-update-icon-cache /usr/share/icons/gnome/ # adding pd by default on clicking on this files
echo "application/pd-extended=pd-extended.desktop" >> /usr/share/applications/defaults.list

Ok, I just committed this stuff here, based on some work by Cyrille and
Patco. Here's the original discussion:
http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/2008-09/065205.html
And the commit:
http://pure-data.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pure-data?view=rev&revision=113…
I'll fold it into trunk once pd-extended 0.41.4 is released.
