Summary: allow more paths/startuplibs in the preferences
Initial Comment:
yet another implementation that removes the hardcoded number of startup-paths/libs in the gui-preferences.
this implementation just adds n+2 slots to add paths/libs in the gui (where n is the min(current_number, 10))
of course it should be done with dynamically addable slots (via a button)
this patch also does not provide scrollbars

of course n is max(current_number, 10)
it is at least 10 slots, but might be more...

Hi,
I was looking at the page
http://wiki.puredata.info/en/Wiki_administrator_how-to, and I'm not sure
if the fields for the infoboxes are the same. I found 3 versions so far:
1. - The first dashed box with # wikipedia terms etc. was put there by me,
with information coming from Hans.
2. - The box in the section "Infobox" in the same page was written by
Marius.
3. - In the end of
http://wiki.puredata.info/en/index.php?title=Template:Infobox_Objectclass&a…
there are some other fields that didn't appear before. And I guess that
the definitive version should be checked with the previous part of this
page.
Could you check out which of these versions is complete? So far all the
mails from Hans asking for the translations for the pdpedia templates came
from version 1.

Summary: better support for opening HTML/URLs on GNU/Linux
Initial Comment:
This patch adds a number of better commands for opening HTML files and URLs on GNU/Linux. These commands use the defaults systems, plus each command is tested before executed, so it should be more fault tolerant.

Summary: objectnames containing "&" not working in pdpedia
Initial Comment:
some special character-objects don't work. e.g. the object [&&] points to ./%26%26 (which is ok, i think), which redirects to ./Main_Page (which is not ok).
other special characters work, e.g. [%] (which becomes ./%25)

Summary: Startup messages too verbose
Initial Comment:
Hi Iohannes,
this is a wishlist bug: Since Zexy2 single Zexy
externals in the path spit out a lot of messages like:
[a2l]
part of zexy-2.1
Copyright (l) IOhannes m zmölnig, 1999-2005
forum::für::umläute
IEM
compiled: Aug 5 2005
...
when Pd is started. This makes it hard to read anything
important that came before zexy is loaded, for example,
if Midi devices were found etc.
My wish would be to follow the "no news is good news"
approach and not print these messages or make them a
lot shorter.
Thanks,
Frank

I'm now going to close this bug, because for one: Zexy did
spit out the messages as a library, not as single externals,
and second: This only happens, if one builds Zexy using the
SCons build system, which does not define -DZEXY_LIBRARY as
the official configure/makefile build does. So if this is a
bug, it's a bug in the SConscript files.

Summary: [lister] may give different outputs for the same bang
Initial Comment:
It seems that the output of [lister] is reevaluated for each different outgoing connection of its outlet.
If its cold inlet is changed in between because of the depth-first traversal, it can therefore output different values for each outgoing connection from a single "bang" on its hot inlet.
See the attached patch for a demo.

Attached is another example patch, which is dependency-free and uses a
clearer way to specify execution order without relying on creation order.

while you have truely triggered a bug, you are quite right in your example
patch about "i have to do this to fix it"; you should never ever (repeat:
NEVER EVER) connect 1 message outlet to 2 signal outlets. there are weird
and wild things out there...
oh: and it would be nice to have a demo patch that actually works without
having list-abs installed

Summary: [lister] help is wrong/outdated
Initial Comment:
>From [lister]'s help : "of course, this should be named "list", but there already appears to be a "list" object, though i don't see any use in it"
This seems to be a leftover from an era when lists weren't implemented yet in vanilla.
Given that it seems [lister] should be deprecated in favor of [list], its help file should be updated so that it encourages using [list] instead of deterring from it.

Summary: [pix_movie] and [pix_film] only play solid colors
Initial Comment:
On Intel-based machines with ATI cards both Mac OS X and Ubuntu, using Gem checked out from CVS on 2006-12-05, playing movies with both [pix_film] and [pix_movie] just plays solid colors that somehow seem related to the actual movie being played.
This happened on a Dell Dimension 8400 with ATI card:
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV370 5B60 [Radeon X300 (PCIE)]
0000:01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV370 [Radeon X300SE]
And on a Mac Pro with Quad Processors and an ATI Radeon X1900 XT.
And on a MacBook Pro with a ATI Mobility Radeon X1600

has this been fixed by the recent changes to use non-rectangle textures by

Ok, a follow up on the Mac Pro (using build 2006-12-06):
05.movie.pd:
1 movie plays all one color
2 sending [mode 0( to [pix_movie] causes error:
error: pix_movie: no method for 'mode'
05.film.pd:
1 the movie plays fine
2 [pix_convolve] causes strange banding (see attached images)
3 turn off [pix_convolve] and the video is fine.
And on the Ubuntu/Dell Dimension:
05.movie.pd:
1 plays solid colors by default
2 sending [mode 0( to [pix_movie] makes it work
3 now toggling mode 1/0 works, and reports the change to the Pd console
05.film.pd:
1 plays solid colors by default
2 sending [mode 0( to [pix_texture] makes it work
3 now toggling mode 1/0 works, and reports the change to the Pd console
File Added: 05.film.pd-default.png

This also happens on Ubuntu, so its not OS-specific. I guess I forgot to
mention that. The above Dell Dimension is running Ubuntu Dapper.
Is there a certain set of ./configure options to try?

This most likely is a problem with the autobuild building pix_film/movie
files which are not the right ones on OSX. I use the same hardware daily
without problems so the code is certainly fine. Some #ifdef bludgeoning
might make the autobuild do the right thing.
