Yannis Kyriakides, Royal Conservatoire The Hague
“The Imagined Voice: Narrativity in new Forms of Musical Multimedia”
The lecture will focus on the idea of voice in both a narrative and
embodied sense, and how that is manifest in multimedia composition. The
question of who is 'speaking' in a musical discourse will be posed,
specifically focusing on works where the absense of vocality can
problemitize the idea of communication. Strategies of how to approach
the use of multimedia in compositions, how one can think about its
relation with music, and how to analyse the dynamics of a multiple
perspective approach will be discussed.
