I have been adding to the FAQ and I just noticed that it has been losing the changes. I just added to this entry http://puredata.org/docs/faq/PdFAQ#WhatIsThePdrc about the .pdsettings file. When I hit save, it gave me a page that shows my changes properly in the HTML. Then when I go tthat page again, the changes aren't there.

hi,
i cannot entirely reproduce this. can you tell me what you have (not) changed ??
btw: where is there a "Pd FAQ" (index_html) and a "Pd FAQ" (PdFAQ) ?? might this be the problem ??
you have changed the PdFAQ instead of the index_html
one last question: since when are ".pdrc" and ".pdsettings" synonymous ? they both handle the pd-settings, but, afaik, the structure/syntax is completely differen: .pdrc is a list of arguments as you have discribed it on the FAQ, while .pdsettings is a list of key-value pairs (to be compatible with the windoze registry)

As far as I am concerned, http://puredata.org/docs/faq should go straight PdFAQ. I think that it used to do that. I didn't set up the index_html page, and I don't think its very useful. I might have tried to rename PdFAQ to index_html in the past, though I don't remember.

I was trying to change the PdFAQ and this change looks like it succeeded this time. But I had committed a Q/A about where Mac OS X keeps it preferences, and I even sent that link to the list, but that entry seems to have disappeared entirely.

Sounds like you know better than me, please make the change to the FAQ :)

i see. the default "home page" (aka: index.html) for wiki-pages is FrontPage. i have therefore renamed PdFaq to FrontPage and now it works as expected (editing this page will really edit this page and not create a new one called PdFaq)

i have tried my best (though i am not a really good FAQ-writer)

eeehcellent...

I figure that a less than optimal FAQ entry is better that none at all. If people got in the habit of copy-and-pasting their list responses to the FAQ, I think we'd eventually get much less duplicate questions. That's the dream at least...
