Hello,
I have finished now portal migration. The last things to do is to test it more carefully.
I Have made the transition to Plone 2.0.3, but didnt use the ATContent types, because they seemed to me to less stable. Also I installed now the Debian packages, because they may be better supported than a an own installation.
Anyway I think there is need for SKINNING !
I have just changed some colors to get the same like the logo, but it doesnt look to well. So anybody who doesnt like this please change just deleting base_properties in the custom folder of skins in ZMI.
Wiki is now integrated smoothly. For a Wikiweb just use Wikipages inside a folder. The portal now uses also FrontPage as an default index as also index_html and index.html and index.htm.
Also I installed EPOZ, which is an online html-editor, everyone can choose in preferences, but then structered text is not possibkle any more, I never use it. If you think we should hold him we can do...
I also put an Forum on the side, but didnt quickinstall it. So please anyone wanting a forum just test it, with quickinstall it and test. then remove, since if somebody starts a forum we have to stick on it.
I hope the side is quick enough.
I remove the portal message on top tomorrow if every thing works and then map also pure-data.iem.at and pure-data.info on it.

Hello,
I also think we should go over the content. The best thing is to integrate also the comments in the texts and erase obsolete ones.
I do some things now, also seeing if everything works.

The site seems quicker, but is sometimes still slow. But it looks good overall. I reorganized the listing of docs also.
We definitely need to get a forum going. There is a lot of demand for it.
Thanks for doing the migration!

Its hard to test from inside IEM, so any remarks please comment. Since heavy installation work sometimes the site cout be slow.
We definitely need to get a forum going. There is a lot of demand for it.
I am will do testing of the CMFForum today.
Also I Think a ticketing system should be included, so poeple can enter issues, about side etc. I Think PloneCollectorNG, but I got some errors in installing, I have to have a closer look at it.
Note, the group-user folder is installed, which mean now we can build working spaces for groups.
Thanks for doing the migration!
youre welcome.
I will worte a document about handling the site today afternoon, so that somebody who feels responsible for this side also can Install Products and do some filebased configuration....
TODO:
- we planed on the IEM, to make the pd-mailinglist Archives searchable in the Portal over a catalog, they are about 20.000 mails now...
- We mabe should make a sort of Project Product, so projects can be listed like News and workin spaces
- Migrate Interface of PureData Database to the Portal, so COntent can be searched like other content and also the mask of Input for new conent could be done more nice to help avoidng naming conflicts of externals.

caching really helps a lot. mod_cache doesn't work too good but squid is really awesome.

CMFForum is officially dead: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope-cmf/2003-December/019929.html
CMFBoard caused (as i mentioned earlier) loads of problems and doesn't integrate itself into plone in a nice plonish way.
PloneBoard seems to work okay, even if it hasn't been released yet (maybe because some features are missing?) it's available in the collective cvs.
Note, the group-user folder is installed, which mean now we can build working spaces for groups.
have a look at CMFMember, they're going to release 1.0 soon (according to the #plone channel topic)
congrats to the migration ;) it isn't always too easy ;)
regards, michael
Hello,

If we get too slow I will change zo zope2.7 with zeo server since this fatser and I batter know how to cache... have packed now the zope-database
Its about 300MByte and we have more than 600 Members.
But it looks like a lot of accouints where made fopr testing and doubled names are appearing. Should we make a clean out ?
a) Mass mail on all subrcibed and anouncing, if they do not touch anything within next 4 weeks we will delete the account
b) checking for the most recent file changes under this account name and if more than 4 weeks old delete the acount if there is no special data inside.
We definitely need to get a forum going. There is a lot of demand for it.

Why do you think we need CMFMember, I am not sure what it does ?
thanks.

It doesn't work with the latest Plone, but it could certainly be fixed. Also, it's not internationalized.

CMFMember make sense to create Archetypes based products, but for simple group management, I would go with mxmWorkgroups or GRUFSpaces. -- Marc

yes it looks very cool and I try it, I just saw we have also to configure the mailer and some forwarder skripts, so we can get postings on the forum over email, I think it need a little time to set up since the mailing stuff.

I didnt see a working installation, so I see not what really could beat the CMFBoard, even it should work with newest plone and Archetypes...

I understand now. Since I didnt get the idea of how to use the Group User Folder, I think we need something like this to get poeple making their own project space and group there...
So I read mxmWorkgroups, I also saw the GrufSpaces 0.2, which say they will cobine mxmWorkgroups with PloneWorkspace,...
So anybody knows which has more future ???
So we should make a Project Product out of CMFMember and Workgroups and some additional metadata, any suggestion how it could look like ?

i can't tell you where to find info about that, i'm just able to tell you what i've heard from several people on irc.

cmfboard doesn't work like plone does, so breaks consitency and usability: the developer also didn't get that security is done by workflows not by properties and it explicitly doesn't use "more" integration into plone (checkin messages like "more work on removing dependency from plones styles" or something like that) - god knows why.
according to several people i know, the code it uses is really messy, even for a zope product ;) i have looked at it once but only a few templates, and i denied to clean it up, because it'd take longer than working on something new.

why not? i can't think of anything that'd break something - there are just some templates that need to be updated so they're conformant to the new styles. not a big deal, takes 20 mins.

as i said, it's only in cvs and there's no released version so i don't think someone gives an example. it beats CMFBoard in several things - integration, cleanness of code, more integration into Plone. But as i said, it doesn't use that feature bloat, however stuff like the mail forwarding is planned if i remember correctly.
i'm just a plone developer that suggests to "do things right".

That's convincing enough.

I'm still trying to build a "members only" plone site with wikis and forums. I noticed problems with both ZWikis and CMFBoard in terms of integration and security. If Ploneboard works better than CMFBoard with Plone, than I'd prefer to use it. BUT it's not supported, and even the link on plonesolutions.com was removed.
Last time I tried Ploneboard it was not working, but for some strange reason it seems to work now...
I need to internationalize it and fix some minor problems. Since you're more experienced than me, are you willing to help?
