Localizer

How should we make a multilanguage Page. I have installed a Localizer but no Messagecatalog until now. Maybe we start with the sandard Plone one and can do more afterwards. Some questions Which languages we should respect ? (for me german, english) Who is translating (not content but menus, etc...) ? How we deal with multi_language content ? I propose, since translations are mostly never synchronized, each piece language should be an own document. so if we have a tutorial in English and German, just have two documents indtead of one multilanguage one, where is a language button. mfg winfried

Organisation of Homepage again...

Hello, I changed the structure to what we have said. put development under Documentation. Additionally I left the dev folder for development of this site so the tracker and wiki and Listlink for pdweb is there. Additionally I put in the exchange folder but titulated it addicted, to be changed, because I think the title should express more like collaboration (too long word) or Comunity or so but maybe just Info, so poeple are informed about community activity. I made the about folder maybe we should name it in te tabs "About PD" and in the content a link on "About PD-Portalsite". The only point I was not sure waht we said, is what to do with the news. a) Put a news_slot on te start_page and a linke to news in there b) Start with the news page c) leave news just in the maintabs or an combinations. The Startpage: a) I just now made an redirect to news (solution b) and put the about page in the about Folder. I think it is boring always get the about page as an start. b) or later make a script which redirects on the incoming domainname like pure-data.org to a purte-data.org about and pd.iem.at to a pd.iem.at-about.... c) just the about page. mfg winfried

Learning Zope/CMF/Plone

So I am having trouble figuring out where Plone ends and CMF and Zope begin. The Plone Manual just seems to cover the basics. I am now trying to learn more about the whole thing but haven't found one single reference. For example, I would like to know what all of the item types are (CMFWiki, File, Document, Topic, etc.) but this isn't in the Plone manual. Any tips would be appreciated. .hc

Members vs. members

So it looks like Plone is a bit fragile when it comes to renaming folders. I changed the "Name" of the Members section from "Members" to "members" so that the URLs would all be consistently lowercase. This seems to have wreaked havok on the Members section, so now there are two, one with a "Name" Members, with most of the member folders; and the other "Members" with mine, lmt's and odradrek's folders. Anyone have an suggestions as to how I should undo this? I don't want to do more damage than I already have. I tried Plone's undo and it gave me the huge error down at the bottom. Webpage Development Wiki and Collector

Hello ! For testing and Coordination: - I have set up a Collector for issues concerning Webpage http://testpd.iem.at/dev/webcol please join as reporters or so.... - transfered the ComunitySiteWiki to http://testpd.iem.at/dev/pdweb_wiki - I changed the development folder index_html to a index and renamed howto-sfcvs. I hope this is ok. CMFWiki and Collector are working now, and also Photo and Photoalbum is installed as Product. NuxDocument for OpenOffice, PDF, RTF etc documents has to be fexed, dont use now. I think there are too many tabs planed I just propose that instead of Public Relations (need a better name) - news - announcements - blog? Exchange - patches - "art" (tracks, GEM pictures, flash-installations) there is a news which is also announcements (see now news, everyone can write) instead of a blog we can do a central wiki, which is just better. Everyone can make an own Wiki oder Photoalbum etc... Patches could be under Downloads or development. so we have - News (very simple news) optional: - a calendar for events. as a sidebox only on main page and other things should go out. Second I wil do an IEM folder for a List of IEM-Stuff to projects maybe other poeple make an folder for them selfs beside the iem folder as different entry point. bbut I dont realy know an solution. "about pd" section / how to wiki

Upon thinking about it and looking at the plone.org site, I think an "About Pd' section would be good. On top of the short description of what pd is, we could have an wiki devoted to info, like the stammtischs around the world. Another idea to have a wiki for a couple different sections. Like a stammtisch wiki under 'About Pd', a works-in-progress wiki under 'Development' and under 'Docs', and a links wiki under 'Downloads'. Looking at the current wiki (http://pd.iem.at/pdwiki/), much of its info will be put into sections in the new site: PdAnnounce -> 'News' PdCommunity -> "About Pd" Pure Data Documents -> 'Documentation' PureData Misc Topics -> "News" PureData Externals in Development -> 'Development' PureData Projects -> 'Development' (maybe 'News') Miscs -> ?? I think that most of the sections of the new site could use a wiki. But I don't think that the wiki section should be called 'wiki' since that is more the name of the software than the name of its functionality. The wikis could be called something like "New ...", i.e. "New Downloads", "New Docs, "New Projects", etc. And then as the stuff in the wiki got more established, for example a new external gets put into the CVS, it would be moved into the established parts of the section. .hc
