# Of cource. You can ask to beta test anything.
good, so here we go: i have setup another test blog called "EasyBlog". while this blog is far more complicated than the other product you already experienced, it also offers a lot of functionality that i would like to see in a blog most prominent: multiple users writing in one blog sorting by category sorting by users RSS feeds
i am not sure whether the EasyBlog supports by-user sorting out of the box, but the rest is definitely provided (however the RSS feeds are not visible by default; you have to append /easyblog_rss to the link to get it)
everyone authenticated can (should be able to) add new entries to the blog. anonymous can only add comments and they have to prove that they are real via captchas.
it would be nice if you could have a look at it at http://puredata.info/Members/zmoelnig/my-easyblog

It seems that the URL changed:
http://puredata.info/Members/zmoelnig/testing/my-easyblog/
I think the most imporatant feature in the blog would be the ability to _easily_ embed images into the posts. This is for the showcase of works. Other than that, it would be nice to be able to embed video, mp3s, flash, etc. in blog posts. But that can be a pain, so I don't think that's essential.

yes, thanks (see my other post)

personally i am not totally convinced that the entire homepage should be a blog.
however, i see that it might be nice to add images (and i fear the data :-)). there is currently no way to add images directly (afai can see). the only way i know of is to put an image somewhere else and include it (if you are writing html you'd use an <img> tag; if you are writing structured text use :img:)
however, this is not what i would call _easily_, it is just an option.

i don't see any real reason to do so, but probably i am too old for web-2.0

I think it would be a great help to have inline images in especially a showcase. Indeed an images-less showcase is possible, but it would appear with out much catchy juice. And the catchy juice, i think, is a great help to achieve the the goal of a showcase, namely to bring the easy knowledge of what kind of things that can be done with Pd to those who aren't deed into it in the fist place. Blog-form or not.
the only way i know of is to put an image somewhere else and include it
That should be sufficient? I mean, the blog or what ever wouldn't be able to guess what picture the writer wants to put inline, so some activity of getting that specific images displayed is required anyway.
As i'm at it: another thing i think would be of great benefit in this direction is to also redesign the frontpage such that it (directly) points to the showcase and the about page and the "getting Pd" section (and still have the news section, of cause, so it makes four bits), where the "getting Pd" section is a altered version of the current Download section where there is more focus on the different posable settings one (users) can have Pd.
The first demand s some knowledge of Plone, which i don't have. The second im planing to write in the hopes it will/can be used(?).

Maybe we could ease in the changes, start with the blog on the front page, then see about reorganizing things. It seems the Plone upgrade will require some changes since it exposed everything in the left nav.

yeah, i don't believe in magic either. and i appreciate the work that IOhannes currently does. But when i say "redesign" it is meant in the broadest sense, so a "redesign" could fx. just be a front page with four sections with read-more links instead of the current front page (the about page) which is two sections.

I noticed that to, but would know if it was intentional?

I am pretty open to someone reorging the site. I maintain the documentation and dev sections, so anything outside of that, I am perfectly willing to stay out and just give comments and help. I think it would be good to have the site work better, and it sounds like you are willing to do it, which is great. /dev and /docs could use some reorg too, but I have some strong opinions on that one.

Well, i think i'm like the average user who wants to give a wee bit back to the community. I'm currently working on what i'd like to see change to the current 'downloads' section (as mentioned). Also this might involve some changing to the About section, which i will not bother you folks with till i actually have done the writing.

Ok. What i have in mind for the update to the dowloads section suggests some structural changes to the docs section. To cut it short: I'd like a dedicated section under the docs section with focus on building Pd and installing externals - ei. from an (advanced?) users perspective, much of which is already exiting in the dev docs. I hope it will be greeted alright.
