a stupid tip, which is actually the first thing to try in case you havent yet. Plug computer, mixer, amplifier in the same eletrcic outlet, even better get one of those extensions with six or more plugs and and place everything there (computer mixer amplifier). that should avoid some extra noise, if it is just an electrical problem.
did that. Actually it isn't really a hum it's a buzz. quite annoying when amplified (this doesn't seem to happen at home as much, though, only at a venue). Is it possible that a soundcard (SB 128) picks up some electrical interference from the lights/other electrical devices ? Sounded like that anyways. And it was only on the output of the console (Mackie 1202-VLZ PRO) with gain quite high up and not on the output from the soundcard (checked with headphones. I'm confusing things a bit, I know... I cannot reproduce it on my home system (Mackie connected to self powered PS 5 [Event] monitors). If anyone has any ideas about it I'd be glad to get some hints. Feel free to write to me directly due to the fact it's gone OT.
thanks.
