hi.
does anybody have experience with low-latency video-capture devices under OS-X that work with Gem?
afair, using firewire adds quite a bit of latency. are there any PCI(e) devices that have better performance? (on linux i am very happy with bttv-based cards)
it has to work with Gem. it should work with OSX-10.5.2 on a brandnew apple-desktop (don't ask me any details :-))

i added gem-dev, because i guess there will be more specialists in this field. forgive the cross-posting...
anyhow:
someone suggested cards by blackmagic/aja.
since they are too expensive to be bought without knowing whether they will actually work: does anybody know whether they can be used with Gem? (and/or any other software that uses standard interfaces)

hi, I was using a digital framegrabber (dgf1394) on a macbook pro, but only with jitter. it is a firewire device and still very fast. it puts out os x native uyvy format, which I think should also be supported in gem? I am not sure if there are dfg1394 drivers for 10.5, and they are proprietary and another USD 50 (welcome to the world of apple). big portion of the magic with live video is the correct color format.
btw, the blackmagic cards that people recommended already are very good.
