Frank,
What are "partial air segments"?
All flights leaving Japan towards that direction are quite full. Alternative routes with crazy transits suggest that I shorten my visit which is already not so long. I'll have to wait and see how this turns out.
That's cool: You're coming over all the way from Japan? Or are you already living somewhere else? Anyway, feel free to contact me if something with your dorm room doesn't work out: This shouldn't make your visit impossible, maybe we can find something else then.
Thanks!
Yes, I will be flying in from Japan for this event.
It has been a relieve learning that all sites.. conference site, station, hotel, Dome (Yeah!), etc. are within reasonable walking distance.
I am still having trouble picturing how big this conference is though. Do you know by any chance know how many have registered so far?

Cologne is indeed quite compact (old Roman town) and the center is almost walkable, although the concert venue is better reached by subway from the Academy.

I know this exactly, but I won't tell. ;) As a very rough estimante we believe from past conferences that there won't be 500 people attending and there will be many more than 50.
Ciao

Ok, cool.. That kind of gives me an idea why there seemed to be plenty of accommodation still available in town (hint, hint). But don't worry, no small number will discourage me. I am not too good at memorizing faces so that is a preferable number. :)
I will sign up myself when I get that air ticket nailed.
