I was playing with PD's automatic creation of objects through messages, and I was wondering if there's a way to query for the number of a certain element... I'm guessing not, but, suppose you have a fairly cluttered patch and you want to insert a connection, is there a way to know what the number of some object is?

The only way I know of is to keep track of the object numbers as you
are creating and deleting objects.
