So I am starting in with [hid] v2, which will change things a lot
(hopefully for the better ;). I am trying to think of a good name
for it, the best I am come up with is [human->pd]. This object is
not really USB HID, so [hid] isn't the best name, plus there are
other issues. I am also writing [usbhid] which is pretty much a pure
USB HID object.
So, any names better than [human->pd]?

What if it gets data from a non-human being, such as a monkey, a cat, or a hermitcrab? do I get aliases like [hermitcrab->pd] ?

i'd suggest [menschmaschine] if that's not too long. but it could be abbreviated, maybe [mm] - non-germans could read that as [manmachine] but that's not gender-neutral and as such not p.c. so just forget my stupid idea ;-)

[menschmaschine] is quite tempting, it could be [humanmachine], but
that doesn't ring as well... or the nerdy [chi] or [hci].

Well then you can't release it under the GPL with this condition, or we're all going to get pd powered guided missiles you know where.
Best,
Chris.

If you want to get factual, I was the one arguing that the GPL can't be used, and mister someone-else suggested the guided missiles *and* expressed disgust about the FSF.
