Hi,
when I want to control my pd patches with my UC-33 midi controller, i must do these steps:
Open pd Media > ALSA MIDI Open ALSA Sequencer Connect UC33 with pd
Are four steps, not too much... but, Im wondering if there is any to reduce them. You know, I would like to open pd and have the UC-33 and pd connected without going to Media>ALSA midi and then going to the ALSA Sequencer.
Regards!

Hi Javier,
What I do is make a little shell script to make the connection. the command for connecting my uc33 to pd is something like: aconnect 128:0 24:0 To see the connections you have just do : aconnect -lio. Add the startup option -alsamidi in .pdsettings or .pdrc to start pd with alsa midi. To be on the safe side, I put a few seconds delay between starting pd and connecting the alsa midi ports.
hope this helps, Tim

hi javier. on osx you have pd-0.40... - preferences - midi settings that should store your settings. on other os, I don't know if that is available, but you still can do the following: to see whats available in your setup open preferences - startup and add -listdev to the startup flags. that will printout your audio and midi devices on startup (later you can remove that again). Then you can chose between a lot of startup messages (not only for midi) Just fill them in at preferences - startup - startup flags.. Something like -audiooutdev 1 -noadc -channels 8 -midioutdev 1 -nomodiin -open /User/javie/pd/mystartpatch.pd -audiodev: number of your sound output. -noadc: turn off sound input, if you don't use it -channels: number of channels -midiindev: number of midi device -midioutdev: you do not really need this. -open: the patch that you want to open with the full path (better to have no spaces in the path, otherwise try apostrophes. marius.
