yeah, there is a variety of options for OSX to avoid compiling, notably HCS, miller, and tigital's binaries... did you try all of those before venturing into the realms of roll-your-own? i suppose the various paths people arrive at pd they may not know of the various options, do you have an idea how to improve this?
i haven't tried any of those. i just downloaded tcl/tk and followed
the installation instructions. And was able to get Pd running from the
source, so that felt like an acomplishment unto itself. Basically,
i'm doing mac dev. free classes on line. Xcode, and interface builder,
so pd and all it's challanges fit well with what i'm learning.
No i really don't have any ideas on how to improve the problem though... other than suggesting that you "experianced" pd user be patient with annoying questions on the pd list. i know it gets old but you're creating good karma by helping us newbies out. And to please keep answering newbie questions because they have no other options.
it seems like you guys are doing this already so thanks!

Wow than you're more advanced as I am already. The only OS I could get Pd running without any hassles was OS X thanks to Hans-Christophs installers. I wish it would be as easy on Linux, but my machine isn't even finding my audio hardware ;-(

On Debian it's just "apt-get install puredata" and Pd is installed. ;)
Regarding you card problem: I'd be glad to help with that, but maybe we c/should take it over to the pd-ot list or to private mail then also german would be fine. ;) I'd need to know your card's model and of course some words about what you tried already (like if you did run "alsaconf", how did it fail etc.)
