hi list,
i want to stop a stream of particles in a sense that i want to stop the creation of new particles but with keeping the old ones just until they die (get killed).
how to do this?
max (i hope there is somebody despite the weekend)
hello,
the part_source object does have an inlet to change the number of new particles for each frame. you just nead to set it to 0 to have no new particle created. the older particles will live until part_killold.
hope that help Cyrille

ah, yeah, that helped indeed, was too obvious - thank you very much for pointing it out to me.
another thing is i the effect i get if i have more than one particle chains open (more than one part_head in one patch or two seperate patches): they are interfering (the gravitation) in each other. is this meant to be like that?

i can't reproduce this. do you have an example?

bonjour cyrille,
here is an example. open rocket.pd and run it, then open goldregen.pd and see how the the gravitation changes also in the first patch. you probably have to adjust the [mouse] object to your device. thanks for having a look.

hello,
ok, I can see the problem now. i think it's the part_velocity that is causing problem, not part_gravity. (if you remove the part_velocity from the 2nd patch, then you don't have any more unwanted interaction). if you change the gravity direction in 1 of the 2 patch, it won't interact with the other.
So, there is a problem somwhere...
