The answer is yes. In fact, Paul Ossenbruggen is working on a Mac port. So far, he has pd running with really bad sound (lots of clicks and glitches, completely unusable), but the UI and control stream stuff works fine. If it works under OS 8 (or 9, whichever), it will work under X. Unfortuantely, Paul doesn't have a lot of time to work on it...

Also, John Carmack (of Doom/Quake fame) has ported XFree86 to MacOS X so it may be possible to run an almost plain Unix version of PD. Has anyone tried PD on FreeBSD. It shouldn't be that big a deal to get going and there is now a lot more sound card support - including the trident 4dwave cards. From there MacOS X should be easy since it is FreeBSD based.
