This concerns the long thread about unauthorized. All the rant and offenses in this thread are no good for the list and the Pd community, so I kingly ask for people that have any sort of disagreement, to take it off-list, if they insist on insulting others.
This behaviour shouldn't be tolerated with as it ignores netiquette altogether. I hope the admins agree and take some action about this.

Refraining expression is clearly the wrong way, as we can see actually.
Complaining is legitimate if sources citation is missing.

'Altogether' is rude since it's only missing a bit of courtesy.
I hope admins agrees that humor belongs in mailing lists

Gross personal insults are not the kind of expression people want on this list.
Complaining is legitimate if sources citation is missing.
Complaining is fine if done in a civilized manner.

Did we read the same thread?

I guess I missed the joke then...

I concur. Let's keep in mind that this not a private chatroom but a public mailing list with an archive that is indexed by search machines.
Fortunately, that recent flamewar is not representative of our typical quality of discussion, but think of the effect such conversations have on new users. Imagine you just joined the list and read a thread like this. This can be very off-putting.
@IOhannes: I would suggest to remove those ugly messages from the mailing archive, if possible. If this was a forum, they would have likely been flagged and removed/hidden.

i second that, as sometimes we are too passionate about our creation, and over-react over some critics that are hardly of even not justified, when they are made by people who never use some features ( or clearly externals ) and tell bad things about it.
for me, that period is clearly behind, as i made many other projects after my pD contributions, and i agree to pass the torch to someone else, but in a Creative Common manner, with a BY-NC-SA license, meaning that author of things should always be preserved, like this should be for pd OpenCV, whose concept was first developped by Llgib and i joined his effort later, but contributing a good 30% of the code and almost all documentation.
we did workshops together with a main theme of Computer Vision ( without AI ) and our roles were rather clear, now the AI took over and i'm not particpating in AI ( too tedious and boring )..
all for now, ciao, chevil@giss.tv
