Hi All,
We're having problems adding arrays to patches using the "put" menu option in this version. It is possible to copy arrays from existing patches and these do function correctly in a new patch. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Matthew

Hi Matthew,
I know of one problem which is that if you "put" an array and set its size in the "properties" dialog that pops up the graph's bounds aren't set accordingly. But it sounds as if you aren't even getting the popup dialogs... is this correct?

Hi Miller, hi Matthew,
since pd 0.32 I also have problems with putting arrays (using WinNT). 'put' works but all arrays appear at the same position in the patch and can't be moved seperately. So I get a pile of arrays on top of each other... Copying them from another patch works. Another problem is that pd automatically sets the array numbers. If you delete an array accidentally it is impossible to get the same array (number) again. As a result you have to change the whole patch (tabread and things like that) or copy from another file.

I think it has always been like this (or as far as I can remember). I also use the 'copy from other window' routine to avoid that arrays are place on top of each other. Is there a way around this (anybody?)?

You can rename an existing array with the message function (ctrl+m). The syntax is 'arrayname rename newarrayname'. That should ease some of the pain :-)

Hi all,
I changed all this between 0.32 patch 4 and patch 5, I think... now there's a "properties" dialog for arrays that lets you rename them. This dialog should also show up with you ask for a "new array".
Is any of you getting these problems still in patch 6???
cheers Miller

Arrays are usually being put inside a graph. So your first array gets a graph to live in. Since you don't provide another graph, the next array you create is being crammed into the same graph. (am I right with this thinking? looks like this anyways....)
Solution: create a graph before you create an array. Graphs you can move around.
But then, I'm on linux... I assume pd behaves similarly in NT.
