Symbol atoms with $0- or $1- send/receive don't seem to work. I'm using Pd .73.1t3 in WinXP.
Even the (I think) old method of escaping the $0 with $0 within the atom doesn't fix it.

I can't reproduce this... here's an attempt:
#N canvas 0 0 450 300 10; #X floatatom 153 79 5 0 0 0 #0-foo #0-bar #0-baz; #X symbolatom 150 119 10 0 0 0 #0-foo2 #0-bar2 #0-baz2; #X msg 245 86 ; 1000-bar 34 ; 1000-bar2 symbol hi-there;
(load this after restarting Pd so $0 is 1000.) Note that it wouldn't work to put "$0" in a message boz as "$" is scoped differently there...
If you've got it failing in some way I'd like to see it...
