Within the context of pd you can. In the Help Browser of pd- extended, see:
manuals -> pd-msg -> 1.msg and patch.
Someone talked about this recently on this list too, try searching
the archives.

I have written something that can beb used for this on X window system. Are you using Linux ? I could release it soon if there is a need for this. :-) I also wrote a little successful piece of code for generating keyboard events on X window system.
