Hi list I woul'd like to write a GEM-external for capturing the sony PS3Eye webcam. (Windows XP)
This usb webcam has very good specs : 640x480 @75 fps, 320x240@150fps, with one-frame latence. Initially, there was no driver for Windows, but AlexP hacked it and wrote a DirectShow filter (http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/3263/) and a SDK for writing videofilter without DirectShow (http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/3284/).
I could use this cam with pix_video and the Direct Show driver, but this gives much latency (0.3 sec). I really need very low latency.
I succeed in compiling pd-external examples, but I don't knon how to compile a GEM external as an extra dll. I'm using Dev-c++. I'm quite a newbie in programming.
Any hints where to start ? Anyone interested in doing the job ? (with more computer skills than me) thanks
Jean-Yves
Hi Finally, I succeeded in writing a freeframe plugin for capturing the sony PS3Eye webcam with pix_freeframe object. This permits to use this cam in Pure Data (GEM, Windows only) with great performances (see below), with no need to use DirectShow. You can download bin and sources here. http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewreply/22569/ Test and Enjoy ! J.Y.G.
