Hi, t hasn't been announced yet, but since yesterday I've been using 0.51-1-test1 that was just released and is already available at http://msp.ucsd.edu/software.html; so anyway, I have a few issues (I tried github but IOhannes convinced me to go ahead and bring it up here). Here they go:
1- I see a grayish background (macOS mojave), which seems like an unintended change (aka bug).
2- For the sample rate buttons, it feels more intuitive to me that it starts with 44.1k and then goes higher to 48k and 96k, now maybe also add 88.2 and 192k? Those are also pretty common. Then it'd be better to have "Use Callbacks" and "block size" in a new level below or rearrange things differently.
3- As for the release notes, I pointed a couple of issues here: https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/commit/740212e66012d35ee14eb0fc3fb9a8...
For last, since I see some changes/fixes were made to inlet/inlet~, perhaps we could also take care of this bug https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/issues/1111
cheers!
Hi Alex, et al,
Some comments on colors in macos: I also see the greyish on the wish app (using Wish Tk 8.6.10 compiled or from software.html). That is while you have the Light Appearance enabled. Try switching your mac to Dark Appearance on your System Preferences, and you'll note that the greyish turns blackish (!). Most concerning: while cords and object boxes are bright, everything else is almost invisible.

not for me, it stays the same, but I'm on Mojave
btw, having dark mode working on macos and other systems would be wonderful for owls like me who spent the night patching :)

Agreed

I think the samplerates should really be a dropdown list instead of lots of buttons...

makes sense :)
I thought about that... but I'm not sure, of teh dropdown says one thing and the number field says another, what rate you really think you're running at.
Maybe this can be fixed somehow, it just needs thinking through.

Hi,
you can just have an editable combobox: https://www.tcl.tk/man/tcl8.6/TkCmd/ttk_combobox.htm
if "-state" is normal, the text field should be editable, so users can either select one of the suggested samplerates or type their own.

Damn, that's exactly what I wanted... and it even works in TK 8.5. Will adopt.
thanks M

Actually, with very heavy patches that choke up my CPU, sometimes I use
22.05k, cause I'm kinda deaf anyway for anything higher than 10k and my noise pieces have much more drone/low sounds :) but I can type that one in if it is just too much ;)
Sure enough - I think I'd better just go back to the buttons.
thanks M

Why? The dropdown list looks great! I saw on GitHub that it doesn't work yet as expected, but that should be a trivial fix. After all, it's just a combobox like in any other GUI program.

Ok, I've found the issue! It's another Tk 8.5 bug... ttk::combobox won't draw the dropdown list, if the parent window is configured with "-topmost 1".
This has been fixed in Tk 8.6 apparantly.
Here's the initial bug report: http://74.208.161.176/tk/info/12715cc9
And here's the patch: http://74.208.161.176/tk/info/a8e8e532
It's actually pretty small, it just removes "hideOnSuspend" from the ttk::combobox::PopdownToplevel proc.
Don't know what's the best way to go. I just think that the button solution for the samplerate setting is really clunky...

I might be going nuts, but I _think_ I'm seeing the same failure on TCL/TK 8.6.10.
