Pd has per-iemgui-object and per-abstraction font settings, so changing font size only affects non-iemgui objects in the currently focused patch and its non-abstraction subpatches. What you may be looking for is a zoom level which does not exist (yet). HTH
sometimes i work with the same patches on a 'pre-historic' desktop
monitor (10-15 years old),
and then again on a recent laptop model.
maybe tomorrow also on a smart-phone.
it looks like Pd could use something like a zoom level/ scaling
factor, in a preference file.
btw, Vanilla doesn't seem to scale down it's outlook, like Pdext!

NB for now there is probably no practical solution for me.
What's this "outlook" that Pd-ext knows how to scale?

It probably has to do with the voodoo behind the tkscaling value. That's the only relevant part that would be different between the two.

sorry, for eventualy created confusion.
in Pd-ext my existing patches become almost unreadable small om my new
computer, screen 1900x1080.
Vanilla doesn't present me with this problem, probably because the
default font is much bigger in size then in Pd-ext.
(however, my patches are not Vanilla-compatible)
the Arduino IDE gave the same problem as Pd-ext; but it has a
preference file where the overall window and font parameters can be
changed.

hmm, it's unclear to me whether you have tiny text in large object boxes, or tiny patches. could you post a screenshot?
