Hey - what about PD? Or would these patches be easy to port to PD? (I don't now much about the porting issue, since I've never used Max).
(adding pd-list to the CC, and apologies in advance if this is off-topic to the "spectro" list, which I don't know anything about but was in the original CC)

I am glad that Rick is trying to push the connection between Csound and Max/Msp. There are so many things in common that can easily be translated between both environments. This is a very positive way to go.

Spectro,
Four Chapters from The Csound Book translated in Max/MSP patches by Jahwan Koo are repaired and reposted to:
I hope that they inspire some of you to make the Max-MSP/Csound Connection and share your work with both the Max and the Csound Mailing lists
Dr. B.
They look like they could be interesting, but unfortunately, while the
files
unzip OK, the text looks (to my untrained eye) like Windows text with lots of control characters and Max definitely won't open them as patches.

Unfortunatley I could not unpack the sit-files under linux with macunpack, but if you rename *.max to *.pd you can try opening these patches, find the errors and replace some of the missing object with pd's objects. But looking at the screenshots of the patches I get the impression, that equivalent patches are included in the pd documentation, for example the pitch shifter via a delay line.

hi,
to unpack all these files under Linux, try unstuff from Aladdin (close source which you can get as rpm). The unstuffing is not a problem, but these are Max binary patcher files, not the text files we need (Save As/Max text file... in max).
Btw. anybody knows of any max binary to max text conversion utility (not counting Max itself of course)?

Hi all,
THe best way to get files beteween Pd and Max is to save them as text files (this i an option in Max's save dialog), and then open them in Pd as ".pat" files. Pd interprets ".pat" to mean "import me from Max".
THe first time watch for error messages about "gate" and other Max objects that don't exist under Pd; make abstractions to stand in for them and reload the patch again.
Screen spacing will be just horrible.
I've done this with a couple of large patches and survived the experience...
