Hii
i just want to print "1" when the movie has finished.
For that, i have connected the right outlet of pix_movie to a number (ie 1) and that to [print], but it doenst print the number...
What is going wrong?
I suspect you need to connect it to a message box containing the float 1
bang | [1( | [print]

I have the same problem. I'm with PD 0.4/ Gem 0.9 on OSX 10.4. It doesn't output a bang, i mean that you should see. But anything else didn't work either.

That was an oversight in 0.90 that has been corrected.
but at this page i only see the 0.90 release...

what is "this" page? you can download quite recent snapshots from http://gem.iem.at/download.html
what is the release with the correction?
the current release is 0.90 (which is the one with the bug). however, there are binaries from CVS-snapshots available.

well, pd-extended used to just package the CVS-snapshot...

are you sure you are actually using the CVS-snapshot (e.g. does the splashscreen say something about CVS, or does it inidcate a quite recent build-date?) ?

pix_film crashed pd at gemwin creation. When I run pd with gdb and create the gemwin, gdb says:

btw, i do not recall which OS you were using . i thought you were on OSX (according to adrian's(!) mail), and your mentioning of "gdb" supports this. but on another mail you are referring to w32-xp.
a lot of crash-bugs are generic, however, things related to video/movie encoding/decoding usually are not.
as a user you don't have to care, but you can help us by _always_ saying which system you are running. (no, i don't have (or intend to have) a database of the hardware of all bug-reporters...) additionally it would also be nice to know which gfx-hardware you are using (on the xp cvs version, chris has done some magic to circumvent the crappy and outdated openGL-headers that come with w32 (they really want you to use direct3d); this _might_ cause some problems on older hardware (i don't know, but it would be good if we could check...)

I went back to the installer of iohannes at http://at.or.at/hans/pd/installers.html and it works fine now. pix_film and pix_movie gives me a nice bang at the end of the movie when i have the pix_film started with [auto 1<

You've it in the mile, I've tried on another machine with win32 and a Nvidia Gforce3, pix_film doesn't crash, at gemwin creation, everything else seems okay.
The hardware where Gem fails is laptop amd64 with a chipset VIA and a graphic card S3G UniChrome Pro IGP. I still didn't try to make a .pd_linux version with gem sources, so I don't know if the last sources of Gem are okay with my amd64 under linux(Debian sid). I'll try in several days when my artistic project with pd is over. I could also learn to compile Gem on win32 by the same occasion, with minGW. Patco.
