I am unable to create an object. When I fill an object with any text and push enter, it won't deselect. Only way to do it is going out of edit mode.
I'm running the new PureDyne which comes with Pure Data already installed. I've been swapping different versions of PD-extended after removing the pre-installed packages.
Pressing Enter doesn't usually create new objects, or at least any
version of Pd that I know. Which version of Pd are you using?

Sorry. My confused.
What I meant was that I am unable to deselect the object using the mouse. I propably tried the enter key as well. Also, I am not able to move the object around once it's created. The object will remain selected (blue) until I add a new object.
I've encountered this problem on both:
Pd-0.43-0-devel package for Karmic found at http://autobuild.puredata.info/auto-build/latest/
and the source, which I succesfully compiled, found at http://puredata.info/dev/PdGuiRewrite

i remember something like this. then it magically went away, and i was unable to reproduce it.
anyhow, one suggestion is to disable all the startup plugins (by deleting/renaming/moving them from the startup/ folder)

ah, i finally found my problem: having NumLock enabled will make the Pd-gui rewrite unuseable for me: selection does not work, creation does not really finish (unless i use Ctrl-1 or the like), i cannot connect objects (msgboxes will be clicked when i try to create a line originating from them; numberboxes will behave as if shift-clicked)
turning off NumLock magically fixes all these issues.

That fixed it. Thanks.
Cool. Finally a way to lock my Pd so i can hoover around and not alter the patch ;o) This was impossible since "key locks" were gone ;o)
