just my 2 cents about irc, i happen to know the person who has been sitting in
#pure-data on efnet for the last year or so. unfortunatly i don't think he
reads this list so he can't really organize anything. It seems like often
someone will join and then leave when they don't see anyone around, but i bet
that if some people just idled a bit, people would begin meeting eachother.
I'm a big fan of PD and it definatly needs a place for users to chat about
everything, i know there is probably a lot of people who want to.

I do read this list, Quite honestly I've just been keeping the channel open to play with IRC bots :). I like the idea of a merged channel, but what IRC network would it be on? I'm personally partial to EFNet.

Yea, I'm already on EFNet all day, every day anyway, so that would be good for me as well.

I have not been on EFNet for years. I'm on FreeNode nearly every day.
The #jmax channel is on FreeNode. In addition, that network also has the biggest Python channel, the biggest Ruby channel, the biggest Perl channel, and the biggest Lisp channel. Otoh, EFNet does have the biggest C/C++ channels, but FreeNode's C/C++ channels are also significant.
Other relevant channels on FreeNode may be the ones about audio/video software, such as #GStreamer, #VideoLAN, #Livid, #XMMS, #Vorbis, #LAD, and such.

my late (but emphatic) vote for IRC jmax/PD merge, on FreeNode or otherwise (openprojects?)!!
can we start -now-? ;)

Okay.
The #jmax channel is closing. I did leave a note on the topic banner.
The new channel is #dataflow, on the same network, IRC.FreeNode.Net
--> matju (~matju@HSE-Montreal-ppp338355.sympatico.ca) has joined #dataflow --- matju has changed the topic to: PureData/GEM, jMax/GridFlow/Pixonix/DIPS, Max/Jitter/NATO/SoftVNS, and so on <matju> hello world
