CALL FOR PAPERS 15th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Music November 23 –25, 2015 Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP Auditório do centro de Convenções (CDC) and Auditório do Instituto de Artes (IA) Campinas, SP Brazil http://compmus.ime.usp.br/sbcm2015/
The Symposium
The SBCM Brazilian Symposium on Computer Music is a biannual event with international recognition in the field of computer music organized by NUCOM, the computer music interest group of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). This 15th edition will be held from November 23th to 25th, 2015, at Campinas, São Paulo, and is specially dedicated to the theme "Computer Music: beyond the frontiers of signal processing and computational models". From electroacoustic experiments to the most complex sound generation and human machine interfaces, signal processing and computational models always had an important role. The proposed theme for this SBCM brings up discussions about aspects that are also inherent to the computer music field, as math, creativity, aesthetic meaning, virtual reality and social networks. During the symposium there will be speeches by renowned researchers, technical and music paper sessions, discussion panels, and concerts. Researchers, scientists, composers, educators, manufacturers, and all concerned with the interplay between music and technology are invited to submit works. The program committee will give a prize for the best student papers presented at SBCM. Papers that have a student as a major author are eligible. Two awards will be given: one for the best technical paper and another for the best music paper.

Technical Topics of Interest The topics to be covered include, but are not limited to:
Papers Submission Instructions
Papers must be submitted in PDF format via the JEMS online submission system (https://submissoes.sbc.org.br).
Technical papers, up to 12 pages long, are expected to present original research with scientific contributions. Music papers, up to 12 pages long, should describe the experience of composers and users of computational tools to produce music (see guidelines). All music papers must come with music examples. If the paper does not deal with musical material then it should be considered a technical paper. Extended abstracts of posters, up to 4 pages long, should present ongoing research. Please carefully comply with instructions in publications templates. Papers which do not fulfill the requirements can not be published. Download files for manuscript preparation in accordance with the SBC guidelines from http://compmus.ime.usp.br/sbcm2015 In order to get the paper published, it is required that at least one author register for the symposium by Nov. 1st, 2015.
Musical Pieces Submission
It will be accepted compositions (solo, collective, electronic, improvisation, acousmatic, multimedia performance, etc.) that make use of computational tools in its production and, in particular, those that present innovation in the compositional process. Each composer can submit up to 3 pieces, however just one will be eligible for presentation in the SBCM. The duration of each piece should not exceed 10 minutes. Please refer to http://compmus.ime.usp.br/sbcm2015/ for detailed instructions on submission Composers of the selected pieces must register for the symposium by Nov 1st, 2015. Although the composer’s presence is not compulsory it is highly encouraged.
