I made a quick plugin that lets you cycle thru the open windows in Pd using Ctrl/Cmd-< and Ctrl/Cmd->. It's attached, it should work on all platforms.

how about a plugin that lets you see the tree of windows, just as when you
ctrl-click (or something) on a patch name in max?

What would be great would be to have an IDE view similar to what
Jmax phoenix does, where you have a tree on the left and a single
canvas taking up most of the window. I think one could do this
with ttk::treeview in tk. Would probably require more than a gui-plugin,
though.

Have you tried any of the category browser plugins? They add it to the right-click menu, here's one:
