to Pd announce;
pureVST version 0.4 is out... mostly fixing problems with earlier versions, in particular, trouble with reaper. Also the VST-style GUI is a bit more helpful.
It's available as a compiled mac ("apple silicon") binary or as source. msp.ucsd.edu/tools/purevst .

This is (will be, see the following) really fantastic, Miller.
First, installation notes:
The install directions for code signing say to use this path: "~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/pdv/PureVST.vst3” . However, the ‘pdv/’ part need to be removed, for both commands.
The name of the Pd app needs to be changed from “Pd-0..55-2.app” (or whatever the installer left it as) to plain old “Pd.app”.
Now to the meat:
The GUI can be opened from within Reaper, but trying to open the audio test from the Pd menu crashes Reaper immediately.
Setup: latest Reaper version, Pd-0.55-2. Media/Audio Settings shows ’None’ for input and output.
Thanks so much for developing this! It should make Pd-in-DAW much easier in the long run. Let me know how else I can help test this.

Ha, that was fast :)
I'm planning to do some kind of "glob" thing to help purevst find Pd, but wanted to get it out without further delay since I think reaper users were having trouble with Pd's interface freezing when reaper quit running samples through it.
However, since the thing seems not to work at all under reaper now, maybe I needn't have been in such a hurry
meanwhile, I've got to get back to some Pd stuff that I'm having trouble figuring out... so a busy weekend awaits :)

as a rule, my workflows never include DAWs and VSTs, but I'm pretty sure, that the VST3 standard mandates that plugins are searched for recursively, so the extra pdv
shouldn't be a problem.
is your host broken?

The host in this case is Reaper, which works nominally with all other plugins.
Note that this was an issue with the code signing during installation, not plugin scanning (which worked well).

ah I see. I missed the part about code signing.
sorry for the noise

Problem was that my doc said look there (which isn't at all necessary and in fact the directory probably won't exist :)
